Join The Dialogue
ARD was established in 2012 as a mechanism to promote and facilitate Russian-Australian economic, trade and investment ties, as well as scientific and technological exchanges.
Both countries strongly depend on export of energy and resources. Both are concerned that apart from energy and resources they do not have sufficient level of domestic manufacturing and need to import more that they possibly should. Both are competing for energy markets in Asia Pacific, in recent times particularly for liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports into this region.
There are many other areas where dialogue and cooperation rather than mutual ignorance and underestimation of opportunities are beneficial. Many analysts, commentators, and some government officials appreciate this but do not always act strong enough to advance this. In current climate, and in absence of Russian Trade Mission in Australia, ARD, as a non-government apolitical organisation, is an effective channel for communication, discussion and addressing the
problems for businesses, academia and individuals who are interested in mutually beneficial projects in Australia and Russia. ARD has a well-developed network of contacts to reach out beyond states and territories levels, and beyond industry sector borders.
