ARD has proven to be an effective platform for bilateral business and academic cooperation.

In 2017, on ARD invitation, Dr Konstantin Simonov, Director of the National Energy Security Fund in Moscow, has become the first Russian Plenary Speaker at the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association Conference. His presentation had a big impact on Australian audience, it was covered by major Australian and Russian media, and greatly stimulated dialogue between Australian and Russian petroleum companies regarding competition for gas markets in Asia Pacific.

Business breakfasts with the Russian Ambassador to Australia, organised by ARD, helped promote business and investment opportunities for Australian companies in Russia and stimulated cooperation between Australian and Russian Universities.

ARD identified benefits and created an opportunity for signing a Cooperation Agreement between St Petersburg Mining University and Curtin University that is currently being negotiated.

In 2018 ARD organised a well-attended Australia-Russia Business Breakfast within the framework of St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEFF) that resulted in unprecedented number of Australian representatives coming together with Russian partners to have a frank discussion about opportunities for and problems in economic cooperation between both countries.

ARD has a Cooperation Agreement with Roscongress Foundation, a Russian institution that organises St-Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) and other international fora in Russia. This Cooperation Agreement, among other things, allows ARD members to attend Roscongress events at discounted price and to be connected with Russian business leaders and Russian Government officials.
